Earnings Momentum Carries Markets Higher

Between October 13 and October 20, markets extended their rally as strong corporate earnings reinforced optimism about the economy’s resilience heading into year-end.

Several major U.S. companies reported results that exceeded expectations, lifting sentiment across sectors. Technology and financial stocks led the charge, while industrials and energy saw modest gains. The S&P 500 climbed nearly 1.5% for the week, marking its third straight weekly advance. Bond yields held steady after recent declines, offering further support to equity valuations.

Analysts noted that investors appear increasingly confident that inflation is cooling without causing a significant slowdown in growth. While caution remains ahead of next month’s Fed meeting, the combination of stable data and improving earnings has created a backdrop of renewed market strength. Many strategists now view the current rally as a potential bridge toward a stronger fourth quarter if economic conditions continue to cooperate.
